Hey everyone,
I hope you have all had a great week. I am doing well out here in the desert. Lake LA is a pretty awesome place and I am enjoying my time out here because I don't think I will ever live in a place like this again. This week we have found a couple of new investigators. The first one we found was Maria. She is a really nice older lady. I think I have taught someone named Maria in each of my areas.. There are so many of them! The second one we found was Yesena. She is really cool. I think she is about 30 years old and is a single parent of four boys. She seems like she is stressed a lot and she hasn't had a lot of time to go to a church, but she decided to start visiting with us. We were able to teach her twice this past week and we brought a member, Hermana Hernandez, to both of those lessons. They connected really well. They have gone through a lot of the same challenges in their life and it was really cool to have Hermana Hernandez share her testimony of how the Gospel can help her in her life. The members here have really strong testimonies of the Gospel. It helps so much to have them come to our lessons. Sometimes as missionaries, young kids, with our white shirts and ties, we can't fully understand the struggles of some people as well as other people can. So it helps to have members there who have had experience with some of the same struggles in life. The members here are so willing to help and I am grateful.
The rest of the week was good. On Saturday, the Spanish Branch had a Thanksgiving party at the church which was awesome. There was a ton of food and I made a flan! They even had a little dance at the end. Of course the music was all Mexican and I didn't know any of the songs, but it was so much fun. There ain't no party like a Spanish Branch party. I'm really diggin' it out here in Lake LA. Thanksgiving is going to be great. We have dinner with a family in the English Ward at 2:00 and at 7:00 we have dinner with a family in the Spanish Branch. So I get turkey AND Mexican food! Its going to be a great Thanksgiving. I know I will probably miss home a bit, but it'll all be good. I am here serving with some amazing missionaries and awesome people. I am really grateful for the opportunity I have to be out here serving the Lord, having these amazing experiences and meeting all kinds of new people. I am a lucky guy and I am grateful to my Father in Heaven for all of my blessings, but most of all, I am grateful because He sent His son to save us all. I am so grateful for my awesome family back home. I know there will be a couple miles between us on Thanksgiving, but I'll be thinking about them. I will always remember the lessons they taught me and try to make them proud. I'm so grateful for this Gospel and the happiness it has brought me. I miss you all, but I am doing great. I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving!
Much Love,
