Hey everyone,
I hope it has been a good week. So there is a new movie that the church made called Meet the Mormons. It is a documentary about the lives of six different members of the church around the world. It was released into theaters this past Friday, but we got to watch it as a mission last Monday and it was really great. It is funny and is just a really cool movie. They follow six different Mormons, all living very different lives. One of my favorites was the missionary mom. They followed the mother and son as he was preparing to go out and serve a mission. They showed him getting his mission call, going out and shopping for shirts, ties and suits and even them saying goodbye at the airport. It was really funny because it feels like just the other day that was me! Overall, it is a great movie and if it is playing in theaters near you I really recommend going out and seeing it.
The rest of the week was pretty good. One thing that I don't really like about Bakersfield is that everyone seems to have a really mean dog. Almost everyone has a pitbull or a doberman and I don't get it. Most of them are super mean. It makes missionary work kind of tricky sometimes. I have had quite a few close calls in the past couple months. Just the other day we were going to visit Mario and Yasira and this little Chihuahua comes bolting down the street, being chased by this huge doberman. I was almost positive it was game over for the little guy, but he managed to juke out the doberman and slide under a fence. I was so relieved for the pup. Elder Morales and I played it safe and stayed in the car until the dog left. In between dodging dobermans this week, we met a really cool guy named Catalino. He speaks Spanish so I was excited about that. I guess he has talked to missionaries before and he liked what they taught but somehow he lost touch with them. Elder Morales and I have started to visit with and teach him which has been great. Well, I should get going. We don't have much time on the computer today. I hope all is well. Take care and have a great week!
Much Love,
Elder Chad Thompson
