What's up everybody!? It's been a pretty good week here in Wasco. We have been finding some really great people to talk to and teach. This week we met some really cool kids, Jesus and Jose. They are brothers and are a senior and junior in high school. They're really nice kids and are way into sports and stuff. So we have been visiting them and teaching them a lot for the past week. It is really cool to be able to teach teenagers, because usually teenagers aren't all that interested. But these guys are super open and willing to talk with us. They have gone to a ton of different churches throughout their life and they are very interested. They have a lot of problems and struggles at home, but their faith is super strong. They have really liked talking with us, and we've liked it a lot too.
This Saturday, I went on my first exchange! It was pretty sweet. An exchange is when you switch companions with another missionary and work with them for a day or so. I left Wasco, and went to McFarland for the day with Elder Antunez. He is a way cool guy. It was really fun to switch things up a little bit. I really like Wasco and Elder Bennett, but it was nice to go somewhere else for the day.
And then on Sunday, we had somebody from the Stake come and speak, who gave a great talk on prayer. I really like my ward here in Wasco! The people are super nice and they feed you a ton of food. Half of the ward speaks English and half of the ward speaks Spanish, which gets kind of tricky. When somebody gives a talk in English, we hand out headsets to everyone who only speaks English. Then, one of us missionaries speaks into a microphone and translates the talk so that the Spanish speakers can understand. I haven't had to do that yet, but they keep saying that my turn is coming up! Looking forward to it...
I have had a lot of interesting food this week. I am proud to say that I have had tripas and menudo. Tripas are the intestines of a cow I think... I'm actually not all that sure... And then menudo is the cow stomach. They were both not my thing, but I ate it! And I've had a ton of spicy stuff too. They say the more spicy food you eat, the better at Spanish you become. I hope that is true because I have had a ton. I have had, habanero sauce, chile powder, and an actual chile. My mouth has gone through a lot this week. I'm actually getting better at handling it and its starting to taste good!
Well, this week has been really good. There are some hard days of course, but I know that all of the good days will make the hard days worth it. I've been praying every day for the people we are teaching. They are all really great people and I care about them a lot. I hope everyone is having a great week! I love and miss y'all!
