Hey everyone,
I hope the week is going well! Guess what? I'm being transferred! I was so sure that I was staying, but I guess you never know. We got the calls Saturday morning and I'm not going to lie, I was super bummed. I remember when I first got to this area I wasn't really a huge fan. I thought it was super dry, hot and pretty small. But as time went on, I fell in love with it. The members here are amazing, and they've become kind of like family to me. On top of that, we have found some awesome people to teach. I forgot to mention last week, but we had set Henry and his son with a baptismal date of July 19th. When we invited them to be baptized, Henry looked to his son and said, "What do you think bud?" And Henry Jr. said yes. He asked if he was sure and he said yes again. We asked him why he wanted to be baptized and he said that he feels love and peace every time he goes to church with us and that he wants that for him and his son always. I was especially bummed that both myself and Elder Ruelas are not going to be there for their baptism a week from Saturday, but we are still so excited for them. We had a really good lesson with them again on Tuesday. He had to go to Fresno for the week starting on Thursday, so we won't be able to say goodbye. We are going to call them later though. They are so solid, I know they will be just fine with the new missionaries.
This weekend has been crazy, we have been running around saying goodbye to some members and investigators. It is really hard leaving an area that you love. You get attached to it. I spent a lot of time on Saturday wondering why President would transfer me and put two new missionaries in when the area is doing so well right now. After some prayer, I decided that sometimes our plans aren't the Lord's plans. I really wanted to stay in Wasco, but I understand that He has different plans for me and I just have to do my best wherever it is that I am supposed to go. On the bright side, I am going to another car area and I am pumped for that. I won't have to spend the hottest part of the year in a bike area. I am excited to see where I go, but at the same time, super nervous. This is my first time getting transferred. We will see. Also, Elder Ruelas goes home on Wednesday. I am so excited for him. He is pumped to see his family. He got his haircut today and the barber asked him how he was doing. He answered, "I'm good, I'm excited to go home!" Well, I should get going, we still have a ton of people to visit. I hope you all have a great week. Thank you for everything!
Much Love,
Elder Thompson
