Hi,
This has been a great week. I don't have that much time on the computer today so this week's letter is going to be quick. Last Tuesday we had transfers. Elder Ruelas and I stayed, but Elder Uscanga got transferred. He is one of the other missionaries in our apartment and a really good friend. I will miss him a lot. He got replaced by Elder Wendel. He is a really cool missionary and he came out at the same time as me. It is really nice to have another greenie( missionary who has been out less than 6 mo) in our apartment. haha.... Throughout the week, Elder Ruelas and I have had some really good lessons, especially with Jose, Jesus and Angela. Elder Ruelas is going home in five weeks and he is getting anxious. So we are working as hard as possible to keep his mind off of things and to finish his mission strong.
Friday was my birthday. My family really spoiled me and helped to make it a great birthday. I was feelin the love! I got a package from home with a bunch of candy, CD's, clothes, and cards from a lot of my family. I had 12 index birthday cards to read! It really was so awesome. My Mom even ordered a cake for me to pick up in Wasco, all paid for and everything. She had it decorated to say, "Happy Birthday Elder Thompson". It was so cool. The CD's I got are awesome, but there is one song in particular that I really love from the Mercy Me album. It is called, "I Can Only Imagine". The lyrics talk about the time when we will one day stand before Christ. It is such a powerful song and it made me think a lot. When the day comes that I will stand before my Savior, I want to be able to say that I tried really hard to do my best. It makes me want to work even harder and share the gospel with others.
Well, I have to get going. I hope you all have a great week. I miss you guys, but I am doing great out here. Thank you for all of the birthday emails and wishes!
Love,
Elder Thompson
