So I have no time on the computer today so this is going to be really quick. This past week has been pretty good. We were able to teach a lot and we met some new people. We taught Jesus and Jose the other night and they are hilarious. The have so many questions. Every time we go over there, we are there for at least two hours talking with them. They are really great guys. We also have still been talking to Angela. She is awesome, but we had to postpone her baptismal date, because she has been too busy to come to church on Sundays. She says she knows that what we are teaching her is true, but it is hard to make changes in her life. She is so great though, I can't wait for her to be baptized.
So Bakersfield has been going through a pretty bad drought for the past few years... Which is really bad news because Bakersfield is full of crops and farmlands. The agriculture here is huge. There literally are fields everywhere. There hasn't been rain at all since I have been here, until this week. We finally got hit with a bunch of rain. It really wasn't anything by Michigan's standards. We were knocking on doors for a solid hour in the rain. So that was fun - I seriously loved it.
Today has been good so far, besides the fact that I have no email time. This morning we went to the Bakersfield Stake President's house. He has a really beautiful home. He has a basketball court so we played basketball, ping pong, and pool. It was so much fun. He has an impressive showcase of balls signed by awesome athletes like Joe DiMaggio, Jerry West, and Steve Young. It's amazing! So that was really fun. We had lunch and then he had a presentation on the Book of Mormon.
Well those were some highlights from my week! Before I go, there is a really cool scripture I want to share. It is Ether 12:27, in The Book of Mormon. It says, "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." That is so powerful. It has been my go to scripture this week. I have a ton of weaknesses - we all do - and this is an amazing promise. If we have faith in Him, and humble ourselves before Him, then He will make weak things become strong.
Well, I hope you all have a great week. I am sorry for this random and short post.
I love and miss you all,
Elder Chad Thompson
