Hey everyone,
I hope you all had a great week. It turns out that this past week was my last in Bakersfield. We got transfer calls last night and I will be leaving and Elder Morales will be staying. I am going to be heading to a bike area and I am so excited about that! I have been wanting to go to a bike area for a while. It is the perfect time of year too, heading into winter. It is always sad to leave an area you love, especially with a great companion, but I am sure that I will have great experiences wherever I go. I am also going to be the district leader for my new District. That will be interesting. I am pretty nervous and still feel like a greenie, but I will try my best.
This week has been pretty great. We had a lot of appointments set up this week and the majority of them fell through. So we ended up doing a lot of tracting. It was pretty fun, I don't mind tracting. You meet some really cool people when you are just out there talking to everybody. We went to go knock on the door of this one house and a little three year old met us at the door and he was swearing up a storm. If you have seen that video of the baby landlord and Will Ferrell, it felt kind of like that so it was pretty crazy. A few minutes later, his big sister came to the door and we talked with her for a while. Her name is Korena and she is a senior in high school. Like a lot of the girls her age we have met, she is going through a lot with problems in her family and in school. She said she has not really given much thought about God or whether or not He can help her. So we had a really cool lesson with her and a lot of the things we taught were really new to her. She kept asking questions and wanted to know more. I think it was a really cool, new concept for her to learn, that we all have the same Father in Heaven who loves us and is willing to help us. She accepted a baptismal date and seems really solid. We also met Clarence. He just showed up to church this Sunday and it turns out he just moved from the East coast, where he was taking the lessons before he moved. He really wants to come to church every week and be baptized, so I am excited for him as well.
Well, I should get going. I have to say a bunch of goodbyes before I head out. I sure will miss the people here in Bakersfield. I also have a ton of packing to do. I am really looking forward to my new area and companion. I can't wait to fill you in next Monday. I hope you all have a great week.
Much Love,
Elder Chad Thompson
