Hey everybody,
I hope the week is going well for you. Mine has been pretty good. I am still loving Bakersfield. This week we have been visiting Mario and Yasira a lot. They are having a ton of issues in their relationship and Yasira says that it helps when we visit. So we like to go over and share a message when we can. I love our visits with them. Yasira has three kids: Esmeralda (14), Bianey (7), and Aiden (3). I flippin' love them! They are the coolest kids ever. We know it is probably not fun for them when Mario and Yasira are struggling and we feel for them. They can get crazy though. One thing I have started to learn on my mission, is to just go with the flow. There really isn't that much that can bug me or get under my skin anymore. I just like to roll with the punches. That new skill helped a lot when we were over there on Tuesday night. I was talking to Yasira and Bianey came up behind me and gave me a haircut (or just kind of chopped off a chunk of my hair). I was just like, WHAT?! Oh well..... whatever. Everyone was laughing super hard because there was just this hole in my head. I laughed too, but when we got home and I looked in the mirror I wasn't laughing too hard. I love those kids though, they are awesome.
The next day we went over to Rudy's and he helped me out a bit and gave me a mini haircut to make things look better. While we were there, Rudy's friend Mr. Green came over and we got to talk a bit with him. He is really cool and he is a lot like Rudy. He invited us back to talk with him and his wife. Mrs. Green was sweet and I was happy to visit with them. We also met the Leon family and I really like them. From what we understand, it is the mother and 9 kids living in the home. They are all great and they really like when we come over. We are planning to go by and teach them on Tuesday. We have also been visiting Ofelia a lot this week. I feel bad for the poor, little, old lady. She called us this morning and said that she was really stressed out. We went over to visit her and see what we could do to help. She is going through some health problems and she asked us for a blessing. I had the opportunity of giving her the blessing and I was really happy to be able to do that for her. She was really sweet and kept on thanking us. Sometimes on Sundays, we visit the homes of members who weren't able to come to church and bring them the sacrament. Yesterday, the Bishop sent us to visit an elderly couple. So we went by with two of the young men and brought them the sacrament. It was sad because they both really want to come to church, but they have really serious health problems that keep them from being able to do much. They are in their late 80's and they are a really sweet couple. The entire 45 minutes that we were there, they were holding hands. We asked what we could do for them and they just told us to keep visiting, because they don't get that many visitors.
So this week has been good. Today is awesome because it is P-Day. One of the sister missionaries in our District is going home next week, so we are all going bowling today to celebrate the end of her mission. Alright, well I better get going. I hope you all have a great week!
Much Love,
