Hey everybody,
I hope you are all having a great week. Mine was pretty good. I am having a blast with Elder Morales, he is a great missionary. This week was pretty slow though. We are still visiting Sally Silva. She is awesome and is doing great. She says she will come to church and later be baptized, but she has been getting ready to move for the past few weeks and she has been under some stress. We are helping her with her move this week and she should be done with that soon. We got to meet her grandson this week too. His name is David, he is 19 and he seems like a really cool guy. We met him last Wednesday and he had just been released from prison that Monday. I feel really bad for him. He has had a rough life. When he was younger, he got abused a lot and he did some bad stuff in his teens that sent him to prison for two years. Sally really wanted him to meet us when we went over last week. He has been sitting in with us when we go over for lessons. He is a nice kid who has been in a lot of bad situations. He is going to come with us to church this week and he said he would like to be baptized with his grandma Sally. So we are really excited for them.
I have had some fun this week too. My wonderful cousin, Meghan nominated me for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. So I accepted her challenge. IT WAS COLD! I nominated a couple other missionaries. I don't know if I mentioned it last week, but I kind of have cats now. There are two cats that come by our back door every night and meow super loud and obnoxiously until I give them some food. So yeah, I guess I have cats. They are pretty cool.
I don't know, it has been a weird week. I am loving it out here. I know I am out here doing my missionary thing, but I've been thinking of home too. When I do think of home, I am so grateful for all of the support I have had. It is amazing, looking back and seeing how many people were there for me. I think a lot of the time when I was back home, I took that for granted. But there were so many people at home, in church, at school, and in sports who helped me learn and grow. I have had so many good examples in my life. I really don't know where I would be without all of the love and support I had along the way. It is overwhelming and I am grateful. Well I should get going. Sorry it is a short post this week, we have some appointments to get to. I miss you guys and I am so grateful for each of you. Have a great week!
Much Love,
Elder Chad Thompson
