Hey everyone,
Happy Cinco de Mayo! I hope you all had a great week. Mine was pretty good. We found a few new people to teach, so that was good news. On Wednesday, we had an exchange with the missionaries in McFarland. They are both pretty cool and I like having exchanges with them. Wednesday is also our Lost Hills day, so Elder Erikson and I went to Lost Hills. Marta couldn't meet with us because she just started working with her brother, so we spent a lot of time knockin' doors and talking to people in the street. We found some great people. There was this one guy Omero, who was awesome. We taught him a bit and are going back on Wednesday. He is a good guy and has a wife and a few kids. I am looking forward to teaching them. Lost Hills was solid, as usual.
This weekend we were able to teach Jose and Jesus too. They are such cool guys. They have a ton of stuff going on in their lives right now. Their life has been tough and recently they have been doubting their faith. They said they didn't really think that God cared much about them. So on Saturday, we just had a lesson about God and how He loves each of us and wants to help us. We read some scriptures with them and they are starting to believe that God is aware of them. It made me happy for them both. I know God loves them and it is awesome to help them start to understand that too.
This past Thursday we had interviews with President Wilson and his wife. They are such nice people. We talked for about fifteen minutes and they were really cool. I can see why he is a mission president. He gives great advice and is so easy to talk to.
This Saturday, there was also a Cinco de Mayo festival in Shafter. It was awesome! There was a parade and then a festival in the park afterwards. It was hilarious, they had dancing horses in the parade, which looked super funny. There were tons of people there, and we talked to so many people and passed out lots of cards. It was so much fun.
Well, I should get going. I had a good week. This Sunday is Mother's Day, which means I get to Skype home! I am so pumped, I can't wait!! I hope you all have a great week and a very Happy Mother's Day.
Much love,
Elder Thompson
