Hey everyone,
I hope everyone is doing well back home. It has been a pretty cool week. Wednesday was Elder Ruelas's birthday. When we came home that night from Shafter, the other Elders had a birthday cake for him. It was pretty fun. I am glad that he had his birthday this month, because that means that we are going to be able to go to the temple in LA. We don't know yet when we are going, but I'm pumped. Fridaywas pretty cool. We did exchanges with the Wasco Elders and I ended up in Shafter with Elder Martinez for the day. It was great, Elder Martinez and I always have an awesome time working together. He is a really funny guy and such a great missionary. I have learned a lot from him. Our day was actually going pretty slow at first. We went to visit an investigator that we have, but she wasn't home. So, we knocked on her next door neighbor's house. This lady opened the door and was super nice. Her name was Mary and she was obviously busy. She was cleaning the house, doing laundry, trying to control her little kids (they were wild), and cooking dinner. Most people would say to come back another day because they were busy, which I would totally understand. But Mary was so nice and she seemed really excited to see us. She invited us in and talked with us for a long time. She even offered us dinner. So we talked with her and taught her a little bit. She is so solid. She was really excited when we invited her to church. It was funny, we were teaching her and her little kids were really acting up. I mean REALLY acting wild and crazy. Mary just looked at them and said, "Yeah... I need to get these kids baptized..." I was like uhhh... Okay! I am excited to continue visiting her. Early the next morning, we went to an appointment with an investigator named Yesena. We were teaching her about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and she just started opening up a lot about her life and different problems that she is having. It was all in Spanish. It's cool to understand more of what people are saying. I may not be able to pick out every word, but I get most of it. I have been really blessed, I know that God is helping me out a lot with the language. I can feel it. I am really thankful for His help. We invited Yesena to be baptized and she accepted. She said that is something she would really like for her family. I am excited to keep visiting her too. I know that the gospel will bless her life.
This week has been a good one. I have seen a lot of blessings. Time is flying by and I loving serving out here in Cali. I hope you all have a great week. Until next time....
Much love,
Elder Thompson
