Hi!
This week has been awesome! We have found a lot of people that we have started to teach. We went to Lost Hills this week to try to meet Beatrice. She does not have a cell phone, so it was hard to get a hold of her and she ended up not being home. Her Mom was there, so we talked to her a lot and shared a little bit with her. That was really cool. She is a really sweet lady and we will keep visiting with her when we go over to talk to Beatrice.
We also got a referral from one of the members of our ward, so we went over to visit them Friday night. They are a really cool, young couple. Their names are Flavio and Dallanely and they said that they were looking for a church to go to when we showed up. They are really such a nice couple. That night, we got a phone call from the Senior missionaries in our ward. In the Bakersfield California mission, you are allowed to go to the temple on the month of your birthday. Since my birthday is in May, I would get to go sometime this month. It has been hard to find a member who plans on going. So the Senior missionaries called and asked if we would like to go to the temple the next day. President Wilson gave us the okay, so we went to the Los Angeles Temple on Saturday. It is awesome. When we first saw the Los Angeles skyline, it was really cool because I immediately saw the temple among all of the tall buildings. The Los Angeles Temple is huge! It was so cool to be able to go, I loved it. I was so grateful to be there.
The next day, Sunday, was Mother's Day. It is one of my favorite days of the year! I got to Skype home for a good chunk of time of time on Sunday which was awesome. It was probably one of the coolest moments of my life when I saw my family come up on the screen. I got to talk to Mom, Dad, Drew, Luke, Meghan, and Sean. It was the coolest thing ever. I thought it would make me really miss home when I saw them, but it was kind of like a big boost. I love and miss them so much, but I am so glad that I am out here, being able to help people and have these experiences.
That night, we went over back to Lost Hills to visit a family that had referred themselves. They are super cool. They were talking to the missionaries where they used to live, but they moved to Lost Hills three months ago and have been looking for the missionaries ever since. They are so nice I and really like them. I can't wait to see what happens with them. Well it has been another good week. I can't believe there are only two weeks left in this transfer. I could be out of Wasco in two weeks, but I hope that I get to stay. I really do love it here. I'm loving my mission. I miss y'all and I hope you have a good week!
Much love,
Elder Chad Thompson
